Description
Perilla flavor you can stir in
Perilla, or deulkkae, is one of the most loved flavors in Korean cooking, grassy and nutty at once. Pressed, the seed becomes perilla oil; ground, it becomes this powder, which is how Korean cooks fold that flavor into the body of a dish rather than drizzle it on top. Chung-O mills germinated Korean perilla seed fine and even, so it melts into a soup or stew for a rounder, silkier body, or coats blanched greens with a deep, earthy nuttiness. It's 100% perilla seed, with no fillers and no additives.
Sprouted, washed, milled clean
The seeds are sprouted, washed several times, and their skins removed before roasting and milling, which is what keeps the powder clean-tasting rather than bitter or grassy. Chung-O's milling makes it fine and even, so it blends smoothly instead of turning gritty.
How to use it
Stir a spoonful into a soup or hot pot, such as perilla-and-radish soup, cheonggukjang, or any stew you want to make richer and fuller. Toss it through namul, sprinkle it over tteokguk or steamed vegetables, fold it into an egg dish, or add it to a salad. It also works as a nutty thickener the way ground nuts or seeds do in other kitchens, whisked into a creamy vegetable soup or a dressing. Add it near the end of cooking so the aroma stays bright.
About
Founded in 1995, Chung-O is one of Korea's leading makers of organic and eco-friendly foods, built on a simple aim: keep clean ingredients close to nature and turn them into safe food for people and the land. It holds more organic-processed-food certifications than any other company in Korea, across more than two hundred products, and makes them across seven dedicated facilities under HACCP and organic-processing certification. Its specialty is sprouted seeds and grains: using a patented germination method, Chung-O washes each seed several times and sprouts it, then roasts it slowly at a low temperature for a deep, clean, nutty character with no burnt edge. For its sesame and perilla oils, the roasted seeds are pressed a single time in the traditional way.

01 · OUR CRAFT
Made By Hand, Not By Machine
Every jar and bottle comes from master artisans and small family producers across Korea, not a factory line. They still ferment in traditional earthenware, age for months or even years, and follow methods passed down through generations, the same way it's always been done.

02 · OUR PROOF
Recognized By Chefs, Not Just Labels
Our producers hold official heritage titles and food-safety certifications that aren't handed out easily. Many have been featured by international media and praised by Michelin-starred chefs around the world, proof that real craftsmanship gets noticed, not just claimed on a label.
About Us:
At Kim’C Market, our mission is to introduce a better, more authentic culinary experience—by offering premium Korean food products that are healthy, tasty, and thoughtfully sourced.
We started Kim’C Market because getting real Korean groceries in the U.S. was nearly impossible—unless you stuffed your suitcase on the way back from Korea. You deserve more than what’s on the shelves at generic supermarkets.
Frequently Asked Questions
How soon will I receive my package?
We ship out orders only in the US, no later than
two business days after the balance on your order has been processed.
Delivery is made 1-3 days from date the label is created with selected
carrier service.
How do you source?
With our mission to improve people’s health by
providing premium Korean foods, Kim’C Market only offers the best
quality food from the finest producers in Korea. All of our offerings
have passed 12 internal criteria including taste, producer’s reputation,
sourcing of ingredients, and brand philosophy.
Sell by date
Every food product at Kim'C Market with less than 3 months to the sell by dates announce the date in the title page.
As a small company focusing on the best customer experience and
transparency, Kim'C Market is putting a weight on sharing information on food and correcting myths instead of asking producers to print later dates. (Fact: producers put a lot shorter dates than the lab tests suggest because they can't control the storage and distribution.) Sell by date doesn't mean the food is bad after the date or not edible. It especially doesn't reply to fermented foods - i.e. wouldn't you value aged kimchi or 5 years fermented doenjang? Please read our blog: Understanding Best-By Dates. We will continue to make efforts to educate our members and contribute to anti-global warming efforts.
