Bay salt is harvested using traditional methods to obtain salt crystals by evaporating seawater using only the sun and wind.Ā It is said the flavor of bay salt deepens with each increasing year it is aged. It repeatedly absorbs and expels the surrounding moisture, and during the latter process, it also discharges magnesium, the source of the bitter taste of salt.Ā Following many years of aging, the unique sweet taste of bay salt comes to life. Haeyeareumās Premium Mineral Bay Salt LO is 5-year aged sea salt with zero artificial dehydration, washing, and bleaching processing. The salt is harvested from Docho Island in Sinan, Jeollanam-do, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Korea, and through natural ways, the seawater content has been evaporated down to only 5%.Ā That means the salt is almost moistureless, and itās soft and dry enough to crunch in your mouth.Ā With no added artificial coloring or additives, it gives off a subtle taste and scent and has the natural milky color of raw salt.Ā And that sweet aftertaste?Ā Thatās due to the abundance of minerals it contains.
