Highlights
Real patjuk starts here — with dried Korean red beans, simmered slow until they turn soft and sweet. These are 100% Korean-grown and pesticide-free, naturally dried so the flavor stays intact. They're the foundation for the Korean red-bean classics: patjuk (red bean porridge), the sweet paste inside rice cakes and buns, and the crown of a bowl of patbingsu.
Ingredients: Korean red beans (pat) 100% (pesticide-free, Korea)
Purity check: No additives
Net weight: 300g (0.66 lb)
Storage method: Store in a cool, dry place; refrigerate after opening to keep them fresh
Description
Dried Korean red beans, from scratch
There's a certain satisfaction in starting from dried beans — the slow simmer, the quiet time in the kitchen that turns into something warm in the bowl. Misillan's red beans are 100% Korean-grown and pesticide-free, grown through Korea's four distinct seasons and naturally dried to hold their flavor.
What Korean red beans bring
Simmered low and slow, these red beans turn soft and creamy with a gentle, nutty sweetness — flavor that carries a dish rather than sitting in the background. Red beans run deep in Korean tradition, too: a warm bowl of patjuk is eaten at dongji, the winter solstice, and sweet red-bean paste fills everything from chewy rice cakes to warm street buns like bungeoppang and hoppang.
How to make patjuk
- Rinse, then soak the beans overnight (8 to 12 hours).
- Simmer the soaked beans for about 40 to 50 minutes, until soft.
- For the best texture, blend half the cooked beans until creamy and leave the rest whole.
- Combine the blended and whole beans with water and season to taste (salt, and sugar or honey), then simmer to the thickness you like.
Beyond porridge, cook them down into sweet red bean paste for rice cakes and buns, or spoon them over shaved ice for patbingsu.
About
Misillan is an agricultural company founded in 2005 by Dr. Lee Dong-hyun, a farmer-scientist who earned a master's degree at Seoul National University and a Ph.D. in Bio-resource Management at Kyushu University in Japan. A microbiologist with more than forty published papers, he founded Misillan on a single conviction — that the foundations of farming must not be allowed to erode — and he works in the field, not just the lab, applying his research to the food he grows. Rooted along the Seomjin River in Gokseong, South Jeolla, and drawing on the area's first-grade groundwater, the company grows and makes germinated brown rice, eco-friendly grains, and whole-grain foods, backed by grain- and microbe-related patents and certifications. Everything is HACCP-certified and organic-certified, built on the belief that good food begins with how the grain is farmed.
