When it comes to Yugi brassware, proper care is everything.  It’s normal for Yugi brassware to naturally change color when exposed to air over time.  However, if you want to restore its original bright shine, simply polish it along the grain with a bronzeware dedicated sponge.

                 
Using rough sponges can leave fine scratches, dulling that signature golden sheen over time. This Yugi-specific sponge is crafted from ultra-soft, delicate fibers designed to clean effectively while protecting your tableware’s beautiful texture and finish.

It lathers well, requires minimal pressure to remove residue, and dries quickly—keeping it hygienic between uses. Beyond Yugi, this gentle sponge is ideal for cleaning stainless steel, ceramics, glassware, or any kitchenware you want to preserve without damage.

More than just a cleaning tool, this Yugi sponge is an everyday essential for those who value the ritual of dining and care for their tableware with intention. It’s a thoughtful way to maintain the elegance of your kitchen and elevate your daily meals.

Instruction:

1. Soak the sponge thoroughly in lukewarm water, then apply dish soap to the brown side for the first wash. (Brown side: for cleaning / Black side: for polishing)
   

2. Gently scrub along the grain of your Yugi tableware using very light pressure.
   ➔ After cleaning with the brown side, lightly polish with the black side to restore shine.
   

3. Finish by washing once more with your regular dish sponge.
   

4. After use, squeeze out excess water and store in a shaded area to extend its lifespan.
   

Tip: After using it 3–4 times, you’ll find it becomes easier to handle and even more effective.

유기 그릇은 관리가 생명이지요.  유기 그릇은 공기 중에 노출되면서 자연스럽게 색이 변화하는 것이 정상이지만, 처음 사용할 때 처럼 밝은 유기의 색을 되찾고 있다면 유기 전용 수세미로 결을 따라 문질러 주시면 되요.
매일 쓰는 수세미가 거칠면, 유기의 표면에 잔 흠집이 생기고 윤기가 빠르게 사라질 수 있어요. 이 유기 전용 수세미는 부드럽고 섬세한 소재로 만들어져, 유기의 고급스러운 결을 그대로 지켜주면서도 깨끗하게 세척할 수 있도록 고안되었습니다.

거품이 잘 나면서도 힘주어 문질러도 표면을 상하게 하지 않아 안심이고, 가볍고 빠르게 건조되어 위생적으로 사용할 수 있습니다. 유기뿐 아니라 스테인리스, 세라믹, 유리 등 표면 손상을 최소화하고 싶은 주방용품에도 두루두루 활용 가능해요.

유기 전용 수세미는 ‘그릇을 닦는다’는 단순한 기능을 넘어, 매일의 식사와 식기를 소중히 여기는 사람들을 위한 작은 배려이자 필수품입니다.

사용방법:

1. 수세미를 미지근한 물에 충분히 적신 후, 갈색 면에 세제를 묻혀 1차 세척을 합니다. (갈색 면: 세척용 / 검은색 면: 광내기용)
   

2. 그릇의 결을 따라 아주 약한 힘으로 부드럽게 문질러 주세요.
   ➔ 갈색 면으로 세척한 뒤, 검은색 면으로 살살 문질러 광을 내줍니다.
   

3. 마무리로 일반 수세미를 사용해 한 번 더 세척해 주세요.
   

4. 사용 후에는 물기를 제거하고 그늘에서 건조 보관하시면 더욱 오래 사용할 수 있습니다.

TIP: 3–4회 정도 사용하시면 손에 익어, 더욱 효과적으로 사용하실 수 있어요.

I am Hwang Jooyeon of Joseon Yugi.  We are an artisan family business that has come down three generations, manufacturing bangjja yugi bronzeware, known to be benefic since ancient times, using the traditional casting method.  The company began when my late father Hwang Joong-sik, who passed away two years ago, moved to Bucheon in 1978 and established Daeji Crafts (Metal), which started as a small brass shop (smithy) by my grandfather Hwang Yeonggunong in Hwangnam-dong, Gyeongju.  Initially making Buddhist ceremonial supplies and copper crafts, we expanded into bronze relics and cultural asset restoration as our technology became more recognized.

From 1990 onwards, we became known as the workshop specializing in manufacturing yugi bronzeware.  Changing our company name to Joseon Yugi in 2008, we have been making and selling yugi bronzeware, offering diverse designs and lines that suit modern-day people's needs.

In particular, almost every year from 2012 to 2021, we participated in the National Palace Museum of Korea- hosted Jongmyo ritual dishes restoration project alongside a relic restoration company, with our yugi products being used in the UNESCO-registered Jongmyo ritual event.  Currently, the six artisan masters who started working with my father in 1978 are still with us, leading the company with me.

안녕하세요. 조선유기공방의 3대째 가업을 잇고 있는 황주연입니다. 조선유기공방은 예로부터 이로운 그릇이라 불리는 방짜유기그릇을 전통 주물사(주조) 방식으로 제조하는 공방입니다. 경주 황남동의 작은 놋점(대장간)에서 할아버님이신 고 황영군옹께서 시작하던 일을 재작년에 작고하신 아버님(고 황중식)이 1978년도에 부천으로 상경하셔서 대지공예(금속)를 설립하셨고, 처음에는 불교제례용품과 구리 공예품을 만들다가 이후 기술력이 알려지면서 청동유물 및 문화재 복원일도 병행하게 되었습니다.

1990년 이후부터는 본격적으로 유기그릇을 제조하는 전문 공방으로 알려지게 되었습니다.  2008년 부터 조선유기공방으로 상호를 변경하여 조금씩 직접 유기그릇을 만들어 판매하였고 현대 소비자의 니즈에 맞는 다양한 디자인과 쓰임있는 그릇을 만들고자 노력하고 있습니다.

특히 2012년도부터 2021년 현재까지 거의 매해 국립고궁박물관이 주관하는 종묘제기 복원사업에도 유물복원업체와 함께 참여하고 있으며 저희가 만든 유기로 종묘제례행사(유네스코 등재)에도 쓰이고 있다고 합니다.  현재는 1978년도에 아버님과 함께 일을 시작한 여섯명의 장인들이 저와 함께 공방을 이끌어 가고 있습니다.
